Session Description


Climb aboard, me hearties and be a pirate thee! Join three fellow buccaneers in navigating the high seas of ELA Common Core! This session has been designed to show participants how to create and facilitate student use of standards-based visual charts to guide the reading of both informational text and literature. This presentation is adapted from Dr. Roslyn Linder's book Chart Sense: Charts to Teach 3-8 Informational Text and Literature.

Participants will:
  • Learn how to create and facilitate student use of standards-based visual charts to guide the reading of both informational text and literature

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • understand the benefits of anchor charts
  • interact with standards-based visual charts
  • know how to implement charts into the classroom
