Session Description


College Central serves as a hub for college material to include college application advising, scholarships, SAT, ACT, fee waivers, interview skills, resume' building, summer enrichment, college fair and university field trips, onsite college admissions offering, and much more. The college advisor assists students, parents, teachers and administrators with test prep and course selection advising.

Objectives / Learning Targets


Participants will...
  • experience the development and implementation of a College Central on a high school campus
  • view a College Power Up event in late summer with the objective of preparing rising seniors for the daunting task of college applications, financial aid and scholarships
  • observe school board members, parents, PTSO, assistant principal, and student perspectives and local media perspectives on College Central
  • investigate the College Central web presence at Clinton High School
  • discuss the connection between rising test scores, test prep implementation, and the importance of the 9th grade open house/orientation to college goal setting and admission success.

Resources

Participants will need note taking materials.
Presenter will provide participants with a sample flier and other materials that are used as "College Central Tools."
